Melbourne's First Choice for Wedding Video & Wedding Photography

Why should I have my Wedding filmed?

For the same reason you have pictures taken - to preserve the memories of this important day. There is nothing like a professionally edited video to capture the sights, sounds and emotions of your wedding day. A well presented video representation is the ideal way to remember your wedding. Professional videographers like Edward Benson Productions have professional grade equipment and the invaluable experience of dealing with once-in-alifetime moments on a weekly basis.

How should I choose a Wedding Videographer?

There are many aspects to consider when choosing your wedding videographer.
Since your wedding is a "live event" and you don't have a second opportunity to film it, you should select a professional wedding videographer who will definitely capture the most important elements of your wedding.

You not only want the elements that will tell the story of your wedding but also those that reflect the feelings and the atmosphere of that special once-in-a-lifetime event. We specialise in an artistic modern style that allows for more of an aesthetic sense of your wedding celebration. We artistically capture details of people's expressions conveying particular emotions, as well as interesting and symbolic details of the wedding ceremony itself.

We also have multiple cameras that will capture different angles and dimensions of the wedding ceremony, so that our clients will be able to get a fuller picture of their special event. Our unobtrusive video approach is vital because it allows for a more intimate filming of the event. Ours is a perfect combination of the artistic mind, high end HD technology and latest editing techniques which will give you the opportunity to relive your special day again.

How many years of experience do you have?

Our experiences are varied, in the 5 to 15 year range of filming professionally. The team at Edward Benson Productions has a wealth of knowledge, Network Television, Televison Commercials, Corporate Videos, Short Films and even a documentary in Antarctica. Each member of our team brings fantastic unmatchable experience!

Will my Photographer and Videographer work together?

Some Wedding Photographers see the Wedding Video as a nuisance and an infringement on their photography time. Some can be rude and refuse to allow the videographer any time to do their work, or they will ignore their presence and step in front of the camera on every shot. Fortunately many photographers appreciate the importance of both photography and video and are willing to work in a collaborative capacity. If your wedding video is important to you, it is important that you talk to your photographer and make sure they are willing to work side by side with the videographer.

What equipment do you use?

We use the latest Professional Widescreen HDV (High Definition Video) cameras to achieve the best quality possible. Sound recording is done with the latest wireless microphone systems to capture the best sound quality possible. In addition, we use a range of specialist peripheral equipment and software to create a unique finished film. This, combined with our skills in editing, produces a very high quality recording of your day.

Do you use lighting equipment?

Whilst lighting is important in any video production, we avoid using artificial lights wherever possible as they draw attention and detract from the spontaneity of the coverage. Obviously much depends on the venue and time of day, as we prefer to adjust the settings on our cameras to work in low light conditions. If a particular situation requires extra lighting, we need to discuss this before the day and plan accordingly, but our cameras perform exceptionally when filming in very low light situations.

What is the difference between an edited and unedited wedding video?

An unedited video is a basic recording of your wedding ceremony. The footage cuts from one shot to the next, there is no music added nor anything done to the footage. It is simply a straightforward, chronological video of your wedding. An edited wedding video is a more creative, emotional viewing experience. The footage is fed into a digital editing system and edited with music, motion effects, titles and transitions to create a beautiful program that captures the action and emotion of the day. It is a viewing experience that cannot be duplicated by still photography or a home video camera. Basically it is a movie of your wedding day.

Can we discuss our project with you beforehand

Absolutely! If we are unable to meet you personally, we will discuss your needs in detail by telephone. We also will send you a list of questions about the arrangements for your day and then call you if necessary to discuss any further details.

Edward Benson Productions and the Celebrant

Just as the Celebrant has a job to do, so do we.
From our experience, we have found that the ceremony runs a lot smoother if the couple municate there Wedding Photography and or Wedding Video with the Celebrant before hand, so there are no suprises on the day.

How long will you be at our ceremony and reception?

Our packages include coverage of the preparation through till the end of the formalities (Entrance, Cake Cutting, Speeches, First Dance) at the reception. Arrangements can be made for additional coverage if needed. We’re proud to say that we have been complimented on being “the hardest-working videographers” by numerous drivers, reception venue coordinators – and countless wedding guests as well!

How far will you travel to film a wedding, and what is your travel fee?

Our packages are for Melbourne based weddings. We will travel anywhere to shoot your wedding. We're flattered that there are people outside of Melbourne that love our work. We have shot weddings out of state and even overseas. There might be a travel fee. It will all depend on where your wedding is, but please ask.

Will you attend the Wedding Rehersal?

The rehearsal is not part of any package, however, should time permit we like to attend your rehearsal to get a preliminary feel for the day.

Do I have a choice of music for our Wedding Video?

Yes of course. Our aim is to make the finished video as relevant and as meaningful to you as possible. We will be delighted to discuss your preferred style of music and suggest additional tracks wherever needed. We add your musical choice where most appropriate and edit the footage of your day to great dramatic effect. We take a long time over putting this all together for you as we believe we're only as good as our last wedding.

How soon will the wedding video be ready?

All Wedding Video packages include a personalised online gallery. We make a preview video available on the online gallery within a few days of the wedding. The video editing, sound mixing and DVD production process takes about 6 - 8 weeks. We will keep you updated on the progress and notify you as soon as it is ready. We aim to watch through the video with you, ask you what you would like changed / edited etc., do one set of amendments based on this feedback and then send you the final version of your special day on DVD. The final version will include an interactive DVD menu. All of this is personally designed for you, based on colour schemes and styles from your wedding day.

Can you send me a demo of your work?

Our website contains samples of our work. If you would like to see our work in greater detail, please contact us and we can arrange a meeting.

Is there a deposit and do we need to sign a contract?

Yes, before a booking can be confirmed we require a 25% deposit and a completed copy of our Terms and Conditions.

How far in advance do you suggest we book our date with you?

We run our business on a ‘first come, first served’ basis, so the sooner you book, the more likely the chance you will be able to secure a date with us. Please book as far in advance as you are able to avoid scheduling conflicts.

Can you notify us if someone else wants our date?
